Required Controlled Substances Training

All healthcare providers who prescribe opioids or other controlled substances will benefit from this course. Although the primary audience for this training is dentists, nurse practitioners, physicians, and physician assistants it is open to all healthcare professions.

Although this education was created and presented by clinicians in Mississippi, it is not state specific. The University of Mississippi School of Medicine is accredited by the Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education (ACCME) to provide continuing medical education for physicians across the United States.

Each state determines the number of controlled substance specific CE hours required to maintain prescribing privileges. This content is offered as AMA Category 1 credit, and is accepted by all states toward meeting these requirements.

Each episode is .5 AMA Category 1 credit. There are 5 episodes, so the total AMA Category 1 credit that can be earned is 2.5 hours.
